Tank Jowett Solicitors are currently representing a client facing serious allegations following the interception of a heavy goods vehicle at the Port of Dover.

The case arises from the discovery by UK Border Force officers of approximately 234 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed within a Lithuanian-registered HGV entering the United Kingdom. The prosecution alleges that the drugs have an estimated street value of £9.3 million and has charged our client with offences relating to the importation of controlled Class A drugs.

This is a highly complex and serious drug importation case involving cross-border freight movements, Border Force intervention, and detailed forensic examination of the vehicle and its contents. Allegations of this nature are prosecuted robustly and carry the risk of significant custodial sentences upon conviction.

As with all criminal proceedings, the burden rests firmly on the prosecution to prove knowledge, intent, and participation beyond reasonable doubt.

Tank Jowett Solicitors’ specialist serious crime and drug offence defence team is conducting a thorough review of the evidence, including Border Force procedures, forensic material, and the circumstances surrounding the loading, sealing, and transportation of the vehicle prior to entry into the UK.

The case is overseen by Simon Jowett and Ornela Marku who instructed of Maxwell Cope 7 Harrington Street Chambers to represent our client in court.
