Facing Drug Supply Allegations? Tank Jowett Can Help

Being accused of supplying Class A drugs is a serious matter that can carry the risk of a substantial prison sentence. At Tank Jowett Solicitors, we have extensive experience defending individuals facing allegations of drug supply and related offences. In this case, our client was facing charges of possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin, together with possession of criminal property. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, our team secured an outcome that spared him an immediate custodial sentence.

The Allegations

Our client, a young man experiencing financial difficulties, became involved in the supply of Class A drugs over a relatively short period. The prosecution alleged that he was involved in the supply of cocaine and heroin and sought to portray him as playing a more significant role than he accepted.

During the police investigation, officers recovered a quantity of Class A drugs and cash. The prosecution relied upon police observations, photographs, mobile phone evidence and the circumstances of the arrest to support the allegations.

While our client accepted some involvement in the supply of drugs, he strongly disputed the extent of the role attributed to him by the prosecution. He maintained that his involvement was considerably more limited than alleged and that several aspects of the prosecution’s case overstated his level of culpability.

Tank Jowett’s Defence Strategy

From the outset, Tank Jowett represented our client throughout the criminal proceedings, providing advice at every stage of the case.

Our legal team conducted a detailed review of the prosecution evidence, carefully analysing the circumstances of the arrest, the evidence relied upon by the Crown and our client’s personal circumstances. Through proactive engagement with the prosecution, we made representations regarding the appropriate basis upon which the case should proceed and the level of our client’s involvement.

As part of our preparation for sentence, we gathered extensive mitigation, including evidence of our client’s personal background, character and future prospects. We also highlighted the genuine remorse shown by our client and the significant impact the proceedings had already had upon him.

The Outcome

The matter proceeded to sentence at the Wood Green Crown Court. Despite the seriousness of offences involving the supply of Class A drugs, the court accepted the mitigation advanced on our client’s behalf.

As a result, the court imposed a suspended sentence rather than an immediate term of imprisonment.

This was a highly positive outcome given the significant risk that our client faced of being sent directly to prison. The suspended sentence allowed him the opportunity to demonstrate that he could move forward positively and rebuild his future without serving an immediate custodial sentence.

The defence was led by Partner Adnan Hussain and Solicitor Golnaz Tabaei, with Olivia Chessell of 2 Dr Johnsons Chambers instructed as counsel to represent the client before the court.
