Tank Jowett Solicitors successfully represented a client facing serious drug supply charges at Bournemouth Crown Court.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) alleged that our client was involved in a wider organised crime group and had control of a “drug line” responsible for the distribution of Class A substances across the South West of England. The case followed an extensive police investigation.

After a full review of the prosecution evidence, Mr Adnan Hussain, Partner at Tank Jowett Solicitors, advised the client that a guilty plea was likely the most appropriate course of action given the weight of evidence presented.

Under the Sentencing Council guidelines, the client was initially placed in Category 3 for playing a significant role in the supply of Class A drugs. This would typically attract a starting point of 4 years and 6 months imprisonment, with a sentencing range of up to 7 years However, persuasive legal submissions were made to reduce the client’s role. Mr Hussain and instructed counsel worked tirelessly to mitigate the impact of sentencing.

Thanks to the efforts of the defence team, The Honourable Judge took into account the client’s mitigation, background, and personal circumstances. The client was ultimately sentenced to: 15 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 2 years, for the supply of Class A drugs.

This outcome represents a significant reduction from the original sentencing bracket and avoided immediate custody.

The defence team was led by partner Adnan Hussain, with John Dyer of Pump Court Chambers representing the client in court.
